Learning Objectives:    

At the completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

F Understand the physical characteristics of proton particles and the rationale for their use in the clinic

F Ability of proton treatments to spare critical tissues such as optic structures, spinal cord in the setting of complex targeting  challenge to deliver prescribed curative dose in difficult anatomical locations while sparing adjacent critical structures due to its finite range in tissue

F Importance of proton therapy to offer a significant clinical advantage in the treatment of radioresistant tumors due to the ability to dose escalate which is possible because of the highly conformal dose distribution and rapid dose fall off

 

Target Audience: All Physicians, Fellows, Residents, Medical Students, PAs, Nurses and other Healthcare professionals.
